Eat Less, More Often

Should I be eating more to lose weight?

Strange question right? Thought starving yourself of your favourite foods and juicing was the answer to weight loss? It’s a strange thing to wrap your head around when you tell someone to eat more to lose weight. I often get strange looks and the questions when I tell clients to eat more food.
There’s a golden rule that I always tell my clients, it works both ways for putting on muscle and dropping body fat:

“Eat Less, More Often”

It’s simple and easy to understand. In all honesty the western civilisation has got it all wrong when it comes down to what we eat and when we eat.

For starters we were brought up with the idea of; breakfast, lunch and dinner when realistically we should be at least eating 4-5 small meals a day. Now I know what you’re thinking, “I don’t have time to do that” Well if you care about your health and your fitness results you will make time.

Preparation is key, don’t prepare then prepare to fail

Why?

Why do we need to eat more regularly? Well it’s too keep things moving. We are many years forward from the caveman days where we would eat once a week and use the fat for energy till the next meal. But we don’t eat once a week we eat all the time and all those unused calories end up as? Yep! You guessed it FAT!

By eating the right foods regularly throughout the day you ensure your metabolism is moving at an efficient rate. This also keeps us away from our cravings or processed sugars. By eating the right foods regularly, we also prevent high insulin level spikes. This is important when coming to fat storage and energy levels.

So what are the “right foods” that you go on about?

This is simple; clean, fresh foods, lean meats and vegetables. Some of my personal favourites are oatmeal and sweet potatoes for carbohydrates, salmon and turkey for protein and asparagus and broccoli for my greens.

Living in a western region its extremely hard to eat right and I’m talking from experience. We are surrounded with high rich basic sugar carbohydrates. We don’t eat anywhere enough protein of healthy fats and the stigma behind what to eat and when to eat is almost non-existent. We consume far too many calories to what we actually burn therefore leading in weight gain. It’s a vicious cycle and the food industry is on it that too. Advertising is everywhere and the temptation is real.

However, you can eat healthy. It’s not expensive and you can enjoy healthy tasty meals. It’s just training the brain and the body to adapt to something new, but I promise you will feel much better in the near future.

Remember;
Eat Less, More Often
